Year 2014 is going to be big for 3D printing. We have already talked about that earlier. Still, this year is going to be big in other ways - it will be full of amazing events: Sochi Winter Olympics, Super Bowl and Chinese New Year are just few of them which will take place in a month or sooner. While the world is changing and adopting 3D printing in giant steps, the incorporation of this technology to these events is almost imminent.
That is why we call all 3D designers to use the opportunity and create 3D printable models of what, we believe, is going to be trendy in the near future.
Russians must be deeply confused - the relay of an olympic fire went completely wrong when the bad luck started to chase the Olympic torch. The flame has gone out more than 100 times, once the torch went on fire itself. To make the story short - we need a secure and credible olympic torch. To be precise - any functional spin-off item would be nice. We suggest you to make a lighter holder or a candle holder in a form of an olympic torch.
PLEASE, HAVE IN MIND that you CANNOT make a design of Sochi Olympic torch, so you are more than welcome to create a new design of an Olympic torch.
Figure skating is one of the most popular winter sports. A huge audience in the arena and in front of the TV screens eagerly waits for its favorite skaters to perform. Olympic games are always full of surprises and incredible stories of phenomenal young sportsmen. And there are some promising ones who will be in Sochi and could become synonyms of an incredible success as well. For example, figure skater Polina Edmunds. A 15-year old 10th grader qualified for the Olympics and definitely will have a lot of fans because of such an achievement at such a young age. So, here is what we suggest: create a 3D printable figurine of a generic figure skater or even better - make it functional. How? It is so simple - make a toy of it: bamboo-copter it is. Or should we call it Polina-copter?!

Have you heard anything about skateboard fingerboard? It is a minimized version of a skateboard and it is constructed to ride it with your fingers. Well, there is a winter alternative for a skateboard - a snowboard. Fanatics of this kind of extreme sport have to deconstruct their skateboard fingerboards. You can design a snowboard fingerboard. Have in mind that the size of a skateboard fingerboard is 96 mm and there is also a mini version of 57 mm. So it would be great to have a possibility to double the fun - 3D print yourself a snowboard fingerboard. Usually, snowboard has bindings fixed to it. So it would be nice to have a version for fingers of that on a fingerboard version as well. However, do not forget that the freedom of movement brings a lot of fun. Lindsey Vonn had won a gold medal in the downhill at the Vancouver Olympics in 2010. She even have received the Laureus World Sports Awards Sportswoman of the Year for 2010. Vonn became very popular in her homeland - USA. Unfortunately, she had an injury and had a surgery on her right knee just before Sochi Olympics. So she will not participate in this event. Nonetheless, there will be a lot of her fans who would like to express their support to her. So, any sports attribute related to a particular athlete or event could be a trendy accessory to have for a sports fan. Here is what could become trendy - pins, shirt studs or brooches in a form of any winter sports accessories. Imagine crossed skis, ice skates, hockey stick - all of them could become a classy accessory.

A significant culture of watching the Super Bowl game at home has evolved during the years. The game is being watched in more than 50,000 homes of USA annually during the last 4 years. Therefore, we think that another type of entertainment could be incorporated into this occasion. Yes, it is 3D printing. Wouldn't it be great to have a championship ring of your own? A dedicated fan could support his team this way - by wearing it during the game. It is not clear which teams will be on the field during the Super Bowl XLVIII in East Rutherford, New Jersey this February. However, we bet that, for example, a fan of San Francisco "49ers" would love to have a ring which says "Go, San Francisco!".

The 31st of January is a date of Chinese New Year in 2014. It is an important traditional Chinese holiday. It is celebrated on the first day of the year of the Chinese calendar. A huge parade is being held each year during the Chinese New Year's Eve. Usually, a massive mask of a red dragon is being carried down the street.
We think that it would be great to have a ring with a head of the dragon for this occasion. Masks would be a nice accessory to 3D print as well.
