DESCRIPTION

A sundial designed for a customer - since the earths axis is tilted and the earths orbit is slightly elliptical the sun does not appear in the same place in the sky at the same time throughout the year - luckily this appearent path of the sun through the sky has a relatively simple shape that can be calculated, trigonometrically stretched and used as the shape of the gnomon orpoointer of a sundial, so that the sundial automatically corrects that issue making it about 10 times more precise then regular sundials. The pointer has the shape of the path of the sun in the sky and so the edge of it's shadow on one side points to the exact time - the model is designed for Germany, for use elsewhere the model can be slightly modified (geographical length and offset from standard timezone)the sundial is printed and assembled in 6 parts, 2 of which are identical, therefore 5 STL files - designed with tolerances based on 3d-printing experience so it's easy to assemble when printed with an average printer
