The USAF’s VC-25B program will deliver a new fleet of aircraft for the safe transportation of the President of the United States and his entourage. The two new aircraft are being modified exclusively to provide the President and his entourage with the equivalent level of communications and security capabilities available at the White House during air travel. The VC-25B aircraft, based on modern B747-8i aircraft, will replace the aging fleet of VC-25As, based on B747-200 aircraft, which currently face capacity constraints, high maintenance costs and obsolete parts. The aircraft modifications will include electrical design upgrades, a highly secure mission communications system, a medical facility, an executive interior, self-defense devices and autonomous ground operations capabilities.
