Rocket Labs Electron Rough Printable Model

Rocket Labs Electron Rough Printable Model 3D print model

Description

A model of the Electron rocket being built by New Zealands Rocket Labs company. The model is fully scale but features are simplififed and thickened to be easily printable. It contains the full rocket as well as individual stages. The Electron rocket is about 17m tall and powered by 9, then 1 rutherford engines in it's two stage configuration. It is named for the fact that the rutherford engine is one of the few operating electrically pumped rocket engines there are. This means while the rocket engine itself is a classical chemical rocket engine powered by RP-1/LOX (rocket grade kerosene and liquid oxygen) the turbopumps are replaced with electrically owered pumps to pressurize the fuel and push it into the combustion chamber. This has the advantage of not wasting any fuel to power the turbopumps but on the other hand means the rocket needs to carry a heavy battery pack so it's a two sided concept with both advantages and disadvantages. The Electron can launch payloads up to 225kg into a low to mid earth orbit.
