USA Republic Ford JB2 Loon Guided Missile

USA Republic Ford JB2 Loon Guided Missile 3D print model

Description

The Republic Ford JB-2 Loon was the United States copy of the German WW2 V1 missile.

With basic gyroscopic guidance the intent was that it could be used to attack mainland Japan at the end of WW2.

Despite its similar appearance, the Loon differed from the V2 in a variety of minor ways - this model is not identical to my V2 model. The pulse jet engine, copied from the German design, was also used in the JB4 and JB10 missiles.

Towards the end of WW2 the Loon played a big part in propaganda and fundraising so, unusually for a missle (which is only used once) many Loons had bright and colourful paint schemes and carried USA national markings. I have tracked down well over a dozen used between 1944 and 1949.

This set of STL files includes a 'Loon Buggy' the trailer generally used for moving the missle around.

The STL files are at 1:72 scale and versions with and without support are supplied.

For even better value look for my V1 and copies set which also includes the German version and a Russian copy.
