US Essex Class Aircraft Carrier

US Essex Class Aircraft Carrier 3D print model

Description

1/1800th scale Essex Class Aircraft Carrier model. Certain elements not to scale.

The Essex class saw a record 24 ships commissioned between 1941 and 1946.

There are four surviving Essex Class Carriers; Yorktown, Intrepid, Hornet, and Lexington. Three of those ships share a name with carriers lost during the war.

During the production of the Essex-class carriers, many minor changes were made. I have included four different models to represent some of these differences.

This model is designed and tested at 1/1800th scale, but up-scaling and down-scaling are possible. Since the model is optimized for 1/1800th scale, it is not ideal to print larger versions due to a lack of detail. The gun barrels and mast have been enlarged.

This is part of my collection of WWII warships, keep an eye out for more to come. If you have a specific request, message me and I'll bump it up my list.

Update 16 Nov 19: Readjusted for better and more accurate detail. Added boats. Update 21 Mar 21: Added missing versions.

I printed it at 1:3000 scale (reduced to 60% of the original). Although this model has only 8.9cm length, it shows the feature of the giant aircraft carrier very well. For beautiful output of this size it is better to set the layer to 0.03 mm or less.
