This is a model based on scans of the really existing Lanyon Quoit Dolmen in Cornwall. It depicts the neolithic monument in its current state, which is the result of a restauration done in the 19th century after the monument collapsed in a heavy storm. The ground surface surrounding the model is sculpted from photos.
The archive consists of 3 files:
A split model of 2 parts: 1. the tripod dolmen with one of the fallen supporting stones; 2. the base with the textured ground and depressions showing where to glue the dolmen. I hope this makes it easier to paint and do additional diorama work if necessary.
A complete model for easy printing and doing some light painting and diorama work without the need of glue.
All parts are highly textured, so that in order to create a nice desktop diorama you only have to paint the parts accordingly. Of course you can enhance the scenery by adding moss to the stones and sand and pebbles to the ground, but there is no real need to do this. My Ready Made Diorama-series is for users who do not want to have to mess around with additional diorama materials to create an enchanting little scenery.
The Lanyon Quoit Dolmen Minidiorama can very well be incorporated into a model train landscape as a fascinating and really existing extra that can not be found among the usual model train sceneries. It can also serve as a part of a desktop game or be built into a bigger diorama of your own design.
The model was sculpted with Nomad Sculpt on my iPad. The files provided are stl-files. The base of the model has a diameter of roughly 120 mm, making it possible to be placed under one of the costumary glas dome sizes. Of course it is up to you to change the size according to your own wishes.
