For true history nerds: This model pack contains shields with the coats of arms of all of Sweden's 25 provinces (known in Sweden as landskap).
The landskaps have only nominal administrative importance today, but are generally speaking still something that the local population identifies with to a greater degree than certain other administrative divisions. People in Dalsland think of themselves as dalslänningar, people in Uppland consider themselves upplänningar, and so on. The landskaps have their origins in medieval times, and their boundaries have been virtually unchanged since at least the 16th century.
The provincial coats of arms, too, have historical origins dating back to the 16th century. Most coats of arms were formalized at king Gustav Vasa's funeral procession in 1560 ad. Another batch, consisting of provinces conquered from Denmark and Norway, dates to the funeral procession of king Charles X in 1660. Royal funeral procession at the time were grand affairs and required all provinces of the nation to be represented in heraldry, which is why most coats of arms originates from these ceremonies.
Listed below are all the provinces included in the shield pack. Note that all province shields come in three variants; one with a filled-in name tag, one with a blank name tag so you can fill in whatever name you want, and one without any name tag at all. So while there are 25 different motifs, the pack contains 75 models in total.
