The Earth-2 hero Val-Zod was orphaned when his parents were executed by the Kryptonian court. He soon befriend fellow orphan Kara Zor-El and was also among the orphans that were saved from Krypton's destruction by Jor-El and Lara. As he went on, Val-Zod soon learned about his parents' knowledge about violence being the worst ways to overcome challenges. This led to Val-Zod becoming a pacifist. When Val-Zod landed on Earth, he was found and taken in by Terry Sloan, also known as Mister Terrific. Val-Zod was soon found by the Wonders, in hopes that he would help to fight what appeared to be a brainwashed Superman. The team soon found that after living so long inside, Val-Zod developed a fear of big open spaces. Thankfully Red Tornado (who had the mind of Lois Lane) was able to give him a convincing pep talk. Red Tornado also taught Val-Zod how to properly use his abilities. Soon enough Val-Zod had to rise to the occassion and fight the brainwashed superman. After defeating this superman, Val-Zod was able to become known as the Earth-2's new Superman!
