This Sandworm was sculpted by me using mostly VR applications. I spent a lot of time on this and hope you like it. I had a lot of fun making it. I am working on more projects I am excited to share them when they are done, but I have a day job so they will take time. Please let me know what you like or don't like below, and I will see if I can help.
This print requires elastic bands or cord or a stiff but bendable wire. It ties the two ends together, pulling everything together. With a tight elastic cord, it can hold any pose well. The greater the tension on the cord, the great the friction between the parts, and the better it will hold a pose.
If you dont want to use elastic cord, you could also use thich wire. For my large print I use on my porch for halloween, bent wire coat hangers worked well.
There are 5 STL files included. None require supports but brims are sometimes recommended.
Head: I recommend printing with a nice sized brim, and leaving the brim on until done painting. It will help the head stand upright without tipping over while you paint. If you want to do this with minimal painting, print this in white. Then you only need to a bit of red, green, black, and a very little bit of yellow.
Fin: Easy print. Brim optional if you need extra adhesion. Print in black if you don't want to paint it.
Body: Easy print. Brim optional if you need extra adhesion. Print as many of these as you like for an extra long sandworm. Print in black and white if not painting
Base: Paint in yellow if you want to skip the the extra painting. Be careful with the coral as this is the easiest thing to break if not handled carefully. I might make a V2 base with beefier coral if requested but I like the scale of everything as it is. This is a long print and a large piece, so I've also included an optional tail
Tail: I recommend printing with a nice sized brim, and leaving the brim on until done painting. It will help the tail stand upright without tipping over while you paint. You can print this in white or black, and can paint the opposite color on every-other segment. Tying the elastic cord to the tail can be tricky. I recomment a clamp or a friend to help hold the body, while you pull the cord tight and tie it tight.
Anchor: If you don't want the base or tail, this anchor can be used to tie the bottom end and bury it in a garden or plant pot for a halloween yard decoration
