Cryolophosaurus was a large theropod dinosaur that lived during the Early Jurassic period, around 194 to 188 million years ago. Measuring up to 6.5 meters (21 feet) in length and weighing approximately 465 kilograms (1,025 pounds), it was distinguished by a unique crest on its head, which resembled an Elvis-like pompadour. This crest likely played a role in display and species recognition. Cryolophosaurus had a robust build with long legs, indicating it was a swift predator. Its fossils have been discovered in Antarctica, providing valuable insights into the diversity and adaptation of early theropods in polar environments.
