The General Electric Building is a 640ft (195m) tall skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan. Upon completion in 1931, this building become among the tallest buildings in the world. Today, it is a New York City landmark and one of the most magnificent art deco buildings of the jazz age. The building's rich ornamentation blends shapes evoking lightning bolts and radio waves to the Byzantine architecture of St. Bartholomew's Church below it.
