The Essex House is a 461ft (141m) tall skyscraper in New York City. The building towers over Central Park South, with its famous red neon sign blazing atop the city skyline. The magnificent art deco hotel, designed by Frank Grad & Sons, opened in 1931. The tower also contains some residential units, which have housed some famous guests such as David Bowie and Igor Stravinsky. In the decades since the building's construction, the exterior has been modified with windows being added and expanded. This model attempts to recreate the building as it was originally constructed.
Because the sign at the top of the building is very delicate, there are 3 methods of printing this building. There is one .STL file that contains the entire structure, with the building and sign connected as one model (Essex House With Sign.stl). Another .STL file includes only the building (Essex House Building Only.stl). There are 2 ways to print the sign separately. There is one .STL file in which the complete sign is printable as one model (Essex Sign Complete.stl). If your printer has difficulties printing the small details and overhangs of the sign, there are 2 files that separate it further, with a file for the legs of the sign (Essex Sign Support.stl, print 2x) and another for the letters (Essex Sign Letters Only.stl).
