Ottawa is the capital of Canada, located on the river of the same name in the southeast of Ontario near Montreal and the border with the United States. The city center is home to Parliament Hill, home to stately Victorian-style buildings, and the National Gallery of Canada, home to renowned works by Canadian and Native American artists. The Rideau Canal, lined with parks, is ideal for boat trips in summer and ice skating in winter.
