The Cathedral of Learning is a 535ft (163m) tall skyscraper in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The building was designed by Charles Klauder and completed in 1936. The gothic style tower serves as a central building to the University of Pittsburgh, located in the city's Oakland neighborhood. The Cathedral of Learning was the tallest educational building in the world at the time of its completion. Today, while several other buildings have risen higher (Moscow State University's main building and 2 skyscrapers in Tokyo), it remains the tallest educational building in the Western hemisphere. It is also the 2nd tallest gothic styled building in the world behind the Woolworth Building in New York City.
