Description

This kinetic ring is a gadget to play with. The two parts are movable but not separable. It's geometrically simple but sophisticated design makes it an eye catcher.

The model has ring size 56, is 6.6mm wide and 2.5mm thick. You can scale the ring to your ring size. The narrowest gap between the moving parts is 0.6mm. The thinnest part of the ring is the neck of the pattern. There the wall is 0.9mm thick on the outside and 0.7mm on the inside. Please check if this fits the requirements of your chosen manufacturing method. As a trained goldsmith with years of experience in 3D design, I work with great care, but if something still doesn't fit, please feel free to contact me.

You get two stl files. One model contains the two parts placed inside each other, but not connected. This 3D model is particularly suitable for the sls (selective laser sintering) process, or for resin printers. In the latter case, it is important that you manually adjust the support structure so that the parts are movable afterwards.

The other model contains the two parts connected with three 1.2mm thick wires. The model is suitable for production in lost wax metal casting, as all parts are connected to each other. However, after ordering from an online service of your choice, you still have to remove the connecting elements. This requires knowledge of metalworking such as sawing, grinding and possibly polishing.
