Concho Pendant
Design Intent and Purpose:The concho, crafted using a relief technique, is enhanced through a 3D production method, achieving greater precision and structured aesthetics. By segmenting parts and combining two different metals, the design maximizes a rugged and vintage appeal. The design is simple yet sculptural, striking a balance between subtlety and ornamentation.
Concept:The design motif, Concho, originates from the Spanish word Concha, meaning shell. Traditionally crafted using the Repoussé technique—where metal surfaces are hammered to create relief designs—these ornaments were originally made by Native American artisans who adopted metalworking techniques from Mexico. This piece reinterprets that rustic craftsmanship with a refined shape, blending oxidized silver and brass for a striking contrast.
