Remember
Star Trek II - The Wrath of Khan is the best Star Trek movie. Full stop. End of story. I will hear no arguments on this subject.
After Star Trek - The Motion Picture one of the main criticisms of the movie was that the USS Enterprise was colourless and lacked the character of her pre-rebuild self. While personally I believe the refit made her one of the most beautiful movie starships ever made I do have to agree that the uniforms were.... pretty awful. Hence my joy when TWoK came out and the uniforms were redesigned into the famous maroon red version (which would last for all the rest of the Star Trek original generation movies). There also were a redesign of the uniform insignia, which of course means the chance of more badges!
I'll be honest; the reason I originally made this badge was because, when I was little, I used to make Star Trek insignia out of cardboard (yes, I was a mere nerdling then). Now I've grown up (well, sort of) I can make them properly. This badge is the Starfleet insignia, worn on the left breast of the uniform jacket. Based on the Cochrane Arrowhead, the insignia of the original USS Enterprise, this offsets the rank insignia which are worn on the right shoulder (and which are available elsewhere in my store). So if you're getting into Cosplay, or you just want to show your proud nerdness to the world, now you too can show your allegiance to Starfleet. Since I want to start rolling out presentation boxes for the badges two I've just finished the box for this badge. As it's from TWoK, the presentation box is modelled on Captain Spock's coffin, made from a stripped out photon torpedo tube.
For the box insert (the strip with 'Mark IV Photon Torpedo' on it) you'll need to stop the printer at the base of the letters and switch from black to red (or whatever colours you're using). Aside from that it should print pretty much as normal You will, of course, need to find two tie-tacks and their rubber caps, which you can attach to the back of the badge (I recommend using epoxy resin)
