Frauenkirche church

Frauenkirche church 3D print model

Description

The Dresden Frauenkirche is a Lutheran church in Dresden, the capital of the German state of Saxony. An earlier church building was Roman Catholic until it became Protestant during the Reformation, and was replaced in the 18th century by a larger Baroque Lutheran building. It is considered an outstanding example of Protestant sacred architecture, featuring one of the largest domes in Europe. It now also serves as a symbol of reconciliation between former warring enemies.

It is very detailed. Ever since I first heard of the Frauenkirche years ago I wanted to see more of it. I've never been to Dresden and photographs can convey only so much information. Photographs are great, but they fail to convey the spatial qualities and mass of something like this, hence why I'm so pleased. I'm already warming up my printer to make a little copy to go up on the shelf next to the books I've purchased about the Frauenkirche. Kudos to the designer and keep making great models like this!
