3D Printed Christmas Tree

3D Printed Christmas Tree 3D print model

Description

Print your own 3D printed Christmas Tree

Great fun item to print, build, and put on display.

The tree is made up of 17 separate parts that connect together like a giant tree shaped jigsaw(See picture 2 for build instructions). As you will be printing your own tree you will have the option to print each part in whatever colour or level of detail that you choose. Just a few points about the print process, Firstly the Stem pieces, I successfully printed these together with a layer height of 0.22, perimeter shells 2, & 3 bottom & Top solid layers. Secondly the base, now you could print this together with the star and bauble_01 & Bauble_03 if you want the similar colour combination to picture 3, but for the base this is the only crucial part that needs to be printed with infill. For me its 5 percent, but for instance if you want more weight at the base you could go right up to 100% if you wanted. Likewise without infil the baubles and stem parts can be delicate, but as long as you don't apply excessive force in the wrong way they should be fine. Thirdly the branch pieces are printed upside down and I personally print these with the same settings as the stem pieces. Then if you haven't already printed the star and the other baubles they can be printed similar to the Branches and Stem pieces without any infil, But I would advise 5% for some extra strength.

All 17 Tree pieces are included in STL format. All are in the Correct orientation ready for you to import into a Slicer program and print how you like. The approximate size of the finished tree when put together is 30cm high, but obviously it is up to you if you want to print larger or small versions. Just bear in mind the tolerances might be an issue when doing this, and therefore the joining sections may need slight alterations. Layer thickness and the accuracy of your printer will also play a part in this, and I would advise printing two of the smaller stem pieces and the smallest branch piece first to test how well they join together at that size.

Obviously in order to print your own tree you will need to own your own 3D printer capable of printing the required size segments, with the largest width print being the Bauble_00 at approx. 14.9cm x 14.1cm. Then the tallest print being the Stem_00 section at approx. 9.6cm tall. Also I have only printed the deisgn in 1.75mm PLA myself so if you choose to use other materials or thickness filament you will need to figure out you own settings.

Print as many as you like for personal use only. Do not use this design in any commercial or profit making way.

Finally see picture 3 for a PLA printed example. I hope you enjoy your tree and Merry Christmas.
