BR OCA Ballast Wagon for model railway.
This has been designed for OO model railway
Please see photos for more info; this has been produced from photo's I have found on the internet. Been difficult to get a final design as there seems to be a lack of info and photos available, if I have got anything wrong then please let me know with details of what is wrong. Photos or drawings of things that are wrong will help me correct the model if required. The design has a balance considering strength vs printability.
The model comes in two sections to aid printing and painting. The underframe is one item and the top is another. Both items are best printed inverted but you are welcome to print how you feel is best. The underframe has got some indented holes for print supports to go which reduce issues with removing supports and getting the surface flat.
The example in the photos has been printed on a AnyCubic Photon, so item can be printed easily on a resin printer with a print area of 115mm x 65mm x 155mm.There is two versions of the Top. I have included one with a anti warp grid, this is designed to be left attached until after curing. I didn't cut this out for a few days and I found the top didn't warp. also see files starting with _, these are the STL files with supports added and you will see how I printed this model.
The model comes with a NEM socket so a multiple of connections can be fitted.
You will need to purchase some 12mm Metal wheels and buffers as I decided printing buffers isn't very realistic, Accurascale do some excellent OO scale sprung buffers that I have used, see link below. Accurascale buffers are about £3 for a pack of 8; I have used the 16" version. There is a locating hole for fitting the buffers but might need drilling to enable the buffers to fit.
-Thank you to Graham Minshull for sharing pictures of his printed wagons. These pictures have been added as examples.
