I made this because I have an original Kyosho Lazer ZXR and have just managed to buy a new LA32 in its original packaging. I didnt want to miss the opportunity to recreate it for other less fortunate people that are missing this part. I have extensively tested this by fitting and removing to my car. The screw holes are all correct and it is as close to the original as possible. When fitted if you have resin printed it and carefully removed supports and sanded you wont be able to see a difference from the original part by just looking at the built car.A few things to note -1- Print them with the inside of the gearbox facing UP! Support the outside instead of trying to pick the support out from the inside. I used full support in Cura and Auto Support in Chitubox and then added a few extra bits to fill in the gaps Chitubox had missed and I never had one failed print.2- Resin printing with 'ABS Like' Resin was the clear winner in my testing because its stronger and looks right too. Use an M4 x 0.7 tap to tap the holes on the top left and right of the rear section and your original screws will fit perfectly.3- Don't tighten the srews up so tight you crack the plastic especially with a FDM printed part.4- Printing on FDM printer is possible but i found more often than not the plastic cracks when the screws are being tightened so I have included a slightly beefed up version for this purpose. It isnt foolproof though! Its honestly much better printed in ABS Like Resin I promise.5- If you cant manage to resin print it, i've also added a FDM ony version for brass inserts. M4 brass inserts can be fitted to the top of the rear section and M3 brass inserts can be fitted to the bottom of the rear section in the locations in the photos only. This does work but you might have to print a few until you get used to fitting the brass inserts correctly and then obviously you will have to swap the factory self tapper screws for some countersunk M3 machine screws.6- The front section works for Resin or FDM as it is, its the rear that needs help with screw fixings when its printed on an FDM printer because the clearances from the steering is so tight ive really done all i can to beef that up.7- This has taken most of Christmas week for me to do and I have demolished my rather nice Lazer ZXR so many times I'm surprised it even goes back together, I really cant think of a viable alternative to this part anywhere on the internet and when an original part does come up on the very rare occasion it does there is usually a massive fight over it on eBay and it goes for silly money so heres your chance to print as many as you like for your car! Just please dont sell them on, I've worked hard on this, torn my hair out.... its surely worth checking out my youtube channel whilst your waiting for it to print. Just search for RC Retirement Garage. None of this has been scanned, I dont own a 3D scanner, its all done by measurments with a vernier and trial and error testing!
