The US Army’s 41st Division occupied the Japanese Naval District at Kure in the months immediately after Japan’s surrender in 1945. US soldiers monitored the civilian disposal of weapons stored in the Kure armories . Local wooden Japanese fishing boats were loaded with small arms/ammunition and dumped into the surrounding waterways. The stl files represent a typical 1940s vintage wooden net trawler that was “specially made” to clear the sea mines that were laid around Japan during the war. This radio controlled model boat is based on the “Shinsei Maru” from Toho’s Oscar winning 2023 movie “Godzilla Minus One”.
The boat is estimated to be 15 meters long and at 1:16 scale, the model dimensions are 925mm x 209mm x 451mm.Model features include scribed hull planking, removable cabins for access to the radio control equipment, scale details like the mines and machine gun used in the movie. Cabin doors slide open and shut. The motor mount can accommodate a RS-550 type brushed motor or brushless motor. Four figures representing the characters in the movie are included. The model can be painted to represent either a vintage Japanese fishing boat or the Shinsei Maru from the Godzilla movie.
