Inverted Magnetic Gear - Magnetic Coupling Concept.
A 3D printable gear, functioning as a frictionless inverted magnetic coupling. the printed shape or part can then be fitted with a variable amount, shape and size, thus strength of magnets, to be balanced in a variety of ways. coils could be added inside or outside of the shape to motorize rotation. different configurations can be experimented with, depending on need, and available magnets etc.
ive tried to make different sized shapes for holding several types of magnets. round, square, rectangular, stacks, etc. if two gears are printed to be used together, we can fit magnets of opposing polarity on the opposing slots holding magnets, one magnet set pulling, and one magnet set pushing. both gears are held together, yet pushed away, keeping them from actually touching, yet also serving as a frictionless magnetic coupling.
ive added the rod or axle for measuring purposes and or enabling the use of ball bearings. you can scale the entire object to any size, and print twice, then fit both halves together and fit them with magnets and or coils as needed for the experiment.
