If you are a long time fan of Formula 1 (or evena new fan given all of the success we have seen in the sport growth here in the states!) this is going to be a fun project for you! I have always wanted to model a formula racecar and started out with the front end for now. As you can tell it is losely based on the Mercedes W11 and W12 formula 1 vehicles, which are some of my all time favorties, especially towards the end of the most recent era of formula 1 car designs.
This is part of a longer-term project for me to design and print a 1/12 scale F1 car. As you can see from the pictures, I have already been able to print and assemble some of the parts, including the front wheels/tires and some of the suspension and brake components. So far, the fit and finish has been amazing. I am printing it on a resin printer, but I think a FDM printer will do just about as good a job as longn as you print it with lower layer heights like 0.1mm so you can still capture some of the intricate details.
I am in the process of designing, printing and assembly, but wanted to share in case other enthusiasts want to join in on the journey! I have included all STL files for the required parts for the front end. They are easy to assemble and glue together. Have fun with it!!! Let me know if you have any questions. I am happy to chat and update the front end model with any insight or suggestions that community may have! Happy printing and enjoy!
