The fitment of all the pieces (pegs, slots, joints, and sockets) is exact. I especially love the 3d printed screw system that not only joins the parts, but also acts as joint tighteners; absolutely necessary for 3D printed toys that tend to loosen over time. As a 3D printing purist, I love that everything needed for this model comes off of the 3D printer (not having to buy separate screws, bolts, nuts, rods, etc.). It also includes a 3D printable display stand (which I will admittedly use for this and other models). All of the part files are provided in optimal 3D printing orientation, and can be printed without supports. ...and that's just the 3D printing portion.
As a toy (once printed), this model has all of the qualities of a high end transformer figure (articulation, sturdiness, pose-ability, proportions, sleek/cool factor, and, well...fun to assemble and play!). The only critique I have as a toy is minor: I would like to have more bicep swivel (right now its only 45 degrees and a "2 hands on gun" pose is not possible in bot mode), but that's just nit-picking at this point.
Finally, as a huge Macross fan myself, this model is going on the display shelf as a great addition and homage to the anime, but will be often taken down to transform and play with...its just that cool. Above all, this model is a definite recommended purchase; so please support the designer and lets enter in a new era of 3D printable "garage kit" anime mecha!
