Stone and Paper Lanterns for Transformers 3D print model

And now for something a little different - a couple of transforming oriental lanterns which are well suited for bots like Windblade and Drift! =)

First up, the stone lanterns which are designed as little sentinel bots in disguise look innocuous at first glance. But push up the slider button on the side, and he pops his head out to survey the surrounding for any Decepticon mischief!

To get a lit lantern look, a flame effect piece can be pegged into the top of the retracted head piece, and have the top portion of the lantern replaced.

As a bonus. the tip of this piece also allows for effect parts to be added on, if you would like to play with that for display.

Taking a closer look at the paper lanterns, these can either be used with the provided stand and base in a mounted fashion, or be held by your bots by using the stand piece as a handle.

And again, there's more than meets the eye here! Turn the lantern on its side and flip out the handle to turn the paper lantern into a blaster!

The transformed lantern blaster can then be held by any bot for extra firepower, with effect parts peggable into the front of it. As a quick alternative, the lantern blaster can also be pegged into the base for a more turret like look.

However, with a blast effect part installed, the balance of the piece may be thrown off a little. In which case, the stand may be used on the rear to balance things out.

Here are all the parts for putting together these two transforming lanterns!

Parts for the stone lantern are lablled in orange, while those for the paper lantern are in red.

Here are some things to note for the stone lantern:

• The button should be superglued into the hollow tab in the side of the Inner Face piece after that has been inserted into the Body.
• The top and main pieces can be glued together, but do not glue that to the Body, otherwise it will be impossible to add in effect parts for the lit-up flame effect

For the paper lantern:

• There are two versions you can use - the (1) Whole version where the piece can be printed as a whole and then painted with different colors for the top and bottom or (2) the Top, Body, Bottom where the parts are printed separately in different colors and then glued together.
• For attaching the swiveling handle to the main body, a short segment of 1.75mm filament can be used and then snipped down to size.
