Signal Lancer from Transformers Cybertron

Signal Lancer from Transformers Cybertron 3D print model

Description

And here's the obscure single scene character from Cybertron / Galaxy Force who never got his own figure - Signal Lancer!

Sporting one of the most unique alt modes as a traffic light, our little pal Signal Lancer had to decide to stand up in earnest and pick a side in the never-ending conflict between the Autobots and the Decepticon.

Of course, to be true to his name, we would have to arm him with his namesake lance, which is really fun to have around and use with Signal Lancer for posing.

=== Transformation ===

And coming over to how he transforms, first his chest is flipped open, and then his head flips into it to hide it. Next, the arms are rotated into a t-pose and the lamp parts slide down along the shoulder to align with the the central lamp on his back.

The lamps themselves rotate in their 'casing' to be oriented the right way in both modes.Then his legs also rotate and are angled up to be hidden behind the lamp parts, with the toes facing upwards.

These steps are then mirrored for the other side.

Next, the lance which doubles up at the lamp post is inserted (with the tip of it pointed outwards) through the hole in his foot and also his hand, making for a more secure hold.

Finally, the Signal Lancer and his lance can then be inserted into the stand and be positioned vertically, very much becoming a robot in disguise, masterfully able to hide at every traffic intersection!

=== Assembly ===

The included diagram shows now the various parts of Signal Lancer are assembled.

Couple of things to note:

  • As most ball jointed parts are tightly fitted to each other, it is recommended to print most pieces here with more walls and/or with denser infill setting
  • Most of the joints which need to pegs to be connected, do so using short segments of 1.75mm filament.
  • The front of the lamps are to be aligned to be backs using filament also, sandwiching the lamp so that they remain free to rotate. Then carefully glue the front to the back to make it more secure.
  • The shaft of his Lance can be scaled before printing to make it any length you like.

===

This was quite the fun challenge to have been able to put together, so hope y'all enjoy this little homage to our little friend from Cybertron!

As always. happy 3d printing! =)
