About the model
This fidget toy is based on a planetary gearbox and it has some additional features to improve the experience.
You can choose out of three shapes for the outer gear:
- The hex shape changes the shape of the outer gearbox to something that resembles and hexagon.
- The bumps shape adds small bumps on the side to make it easier to rotate the toy with one hand.
- And finally, the flat shape has no real features but it makes it easier for you to modify it with your own design
Assembly
Since not all parts can be printed in place, some quick assembly is required.
Place all the gears angled inside the outer gear and apply some force to push them in place.
This might be hard on the first try, but once you have done it ones it will be easier.
Printing
Parts to print:
- 1 x CenterGear
- 3 x InnerGear
- 1 x OuterGear of your choice
Print settings I used:
- 3 outer walls
- 10-20% infill
- 0.2 layer height
- No supports
- Printed with PLA
I only printed the stl files, but the 3mf should also work.
And finally I added ± 0.1 mm clearance, this is enough for a ender 3 printer.
