Forearm Rotation Upgrade for TransArt Blackarachnia

Forearm Rotation Upgrade for TransArt Blackarachnia 3D print model

Description

This two-part kit replaces the figure's second elbow hinge assembly with a ball joint to effectively give her wrist rotation. No cutting is involved, though a pin will have to be removed from each side and later re-inserted. The hinge being replaced is part of the forearm filler, which isn't glued in and can be popped out without damage by putting something thin underneath the hinge and gently prying it up. The new piece presses right in and should stay without adhesive. Transformation is entirely unaffected, and the spider mode may even look better based on how you position things.

The insert should be printed at a 40 degree angle with the thin end and the top surface facing away from the build plate. The joint was printed vertically from the ball up with supports on the end and at the pin hole. The pin hole may need to be ran through afterwards with a 1.5mm drill bit by hand.

The paint was matched with Mr. Color paints, using SM-201 Super Fine Silver 2 as a base with CR-1 Cyan and CR-2 Magenta pigment additives, and then a small amount of GX-02 Ueno Black to darken it up. I also recommend popping off the metal foot plates and painting those while you're at it for show accuracy. I sprayed the parts with black primer beforehand.
