Calvin and Hobbes) is a daily comic strip created and drawn by American artist Bill Watterson. The comic depicts the antics and mischief of a six-year-old boy, Calvin, and his stuffed tiger, Hobbs. The comic was published from November 18, 1985 to December 31, 1995, and at its peak was published in more than 2,400 newspapers around the world. To date, the comic's 18 published books have sold more than 30 million copies. Calvin and Hobbes themselves appear in most issues of the comic, only occasionally the focus shifts to Calvin's parents. The comic's wide range of themes reflect Calvin's flights of fancy, his friendship with Hobbes, his mischief, and his views on a variety of political and cultural issues.
