Articulated Male Action Figure

Articulated Male Action Figure 3D print model

Description

This is an Articulated Male Action figure with an average body build.

FEATURES:The figure features more points of articulation than I can count at the moment of writing this description :D

The figure is in true 1:12 scale and stands 15 cm tall.

It can be scaled up without issues. Scaling down is not recommended because some parts might be too small and fragile.

If you want to scale the figure up to 1/10 scale, increase the size of all the parts by 20%.If you want to scale the figure up to 1/6 scale, increase the size of all the parts by 100%.

The figure comes in TWO main variants. Please read carefuly to avoid unnecessary confusion.

I have made the figure's wrist and ankle joints in two different variants:

  1. Traditional ball hinge
  2. Double ball peg
  3. Through experimentation, I have found that ball pegs for wrists and joints offer superior stability and tightness at the joints. They also provide a more natural posability. However, if you prefer traditional ball hinge joints, I have included those too. You will find two versions of hands and feet - one for the ball hinge, and the other for the ball peg.

There are also TWO variants of thighs included. There is a version with and a version without a dedicated thigh swivel. You can use whichever suits your needs better. The version with a dedicated thigh swivel offers more range of motion.

There are also several ball pegs for the head. If you want to use the provided head, use PIN_Head with Head_Adapter. If you want to use a custom head or a head of some commercial action figure, try them with some of the provided PIN_Head ball pegs.

You can mix and match parts however you like :)

PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS to avoid unnecessary problems.

The parts have all been inspected with Meshmixer and are all manifold and watertight, but some slicers tend to give warning about holes in some parts of the figure. If you get a warning, simply click Repair 3D model and you'll be good to go.

Assembly instructions:

When assembling the figure, please heat up the parts before joining them to avoid breaking and/or tearing. Some parts are small and thin and might break if you force them together without heating them up beforehand.Various resins behave in different ways and your exposure settings also factor in.Be mindful of overexposing your resin because it will make the parts more difficult to fit together or they might not fit together at all.I've supplied some joints in two sizes so you can test which provides you a better grip and tightness. They are labeled as Large or Small.Wrist and ankle joints are purposfully made a bit thicker for a tighter hold so if you have trouble fitting them in their sockets, use a pin vice with a small drill bit to gently widen the socket holes a bit or sand down the pegs a bit, whichever is easier for you.

More examples: when snapping elbow joint with bicep, heat up the bicep with a hair dryer or by soaking the part for about 30 seconds in hot water and then gently push the elbow joint in. When the pieces have snapped together, hold the joint until the resin has cooled off and settled tightly around the joint. Do not move the joint before the resin has had time to settle completely.

For easier assembly, I recommend you hollow out the torso, abdomen and thighs before printing with wall thickness of at least 1.2 mm for a 1:12 scale figure. If you plan on printing larger, I recommend you increase the wall thickness for added sturdiness.

The figure durability will greatly depend on the type and quality of resin you use. I recommend using resins made specifically for action figures like Resione Tough 74.You can also use an ABS like so that printed parts will have more strength. The parts have the greatest resistance to breaking or tearing if you use a mix of ABS like resin with a flexible resin in 80:20 ratio.

If you find the joints too tight, feel free to lubricate them using graphite grease, silicone oil, machine oil or even regular motor oil :DA small drop will be enough to lubricate the joints without making them loose.
