This 3D-printed pickleball paddle is designed to fit on an 18 cm³ build plate, adhering to USA Pickleball recreational size rules. The paddle measures 16 in (406.4 mm) in length and 8 in (203.2 mm) in width, matching the regulation total width and height of 24 in (609.6 mm). At 0.19685 in (5 mm) thick, this paddle is lightweight and practical for casual play but not suitable for professional competitions, as homemade paddles are not allowed in competitive play.
The paddle is designed to handle recreational use, even when printed in PLA, but using PETG adds extra durability. Pay attention to print line orientation for maximum strength: paddle sections should be printed lying flat, while the handle is best printed horizontally.
Assembly
Ensure all pieces are securely glued together during assembly. Refer to the pictures for guidance.
Disclaimer
This 3D-printed paddle, while functional, does not match the strength of traditional wooden or graphite paddles due to the nature of plastic materials. It is a proof of concept and should not be held to the same durability standards.
Common Failure Point: The joint between the paddle and handle is the most likely point of stress. To improve strength, consider using adaptive infill or extra parameters in the bottom sections of the paddle and the top of the handle.
