Our queen will be Fu Hao ( 妇好) was one of the most influential women during the reign of King Wu Ding of the Shang, of whom she was the second wife. She is estimated to have lived around 1250-1200 BCE. Her posthumous name was Mu Xin. She rose rapidly in the social hierarchy and became high priestess and general-in-chief of the armies. It was she who led the Shang troops to victory in the campaign against the Yi, Ba and Qiang tribes. She also led the war against Tufang, which she won. She was the most feared and influential military leader in the court. She carries her jade phoenix in her hand. It was found in her tomb and was dear to her for some unknown reason. This piece was sculpted in her honour is faithful to her statue modified to add the phoenix.
