Christmas Bow Tie - Modular 3D-print Plug and Play

Christmas Bow Tie - Modular 3D-print Plug and Play 3D print model

Description

This is a modular Christmas Bow Tie that I created a year ago. It can be worn on any sweater/jumper/shirt.

The best part about this bow tie is that it is modular. This has a few advantages:

  1. You can swap out any part you want for something else. If you have a request for a specific pin decoration or event want something else for the inner parts of the bow tie wings, let me know! This way it can not only be a Christmas bow Tie but also a regular bow tie.
  2. It is easy to print parts in different colors for people who don't own a multicolor printer, you can use the pause at height function to apply different colors.
  3. It is easy to assemble.

To assemble this print you can follow this order:

  1. Take the left side of the inner wing (with the decorations) and put it in the grooves of the bottom frame of the left wing.
  2. Put the top frame of the left wing and put it on top of the bottom frame of the left wing, making sure the inner wing falls into the grooves of the top frame and the little pins snap into place.
  3. Do the same thing for the right wing with it's inner wing and top and bottom frame.
  4. Make sure the top and bottom frames are tight, so that they can then be inserted into the core part.
  5. Insert each wing into the core by aligning it with the holes on the left and right side of the core and apply quite a bit of pressure. Make sure the decorations face the right way, towards the pin hole of the core.
  6. Lastly insert the decoration pin into the pin hole of the core.
  7. Wear the Christmas Bow Tie at Christmas day or when you feel like it and show it off to impress your family and loved ones.

3D print information:

  • Inner wings can be printed on the flat side on the bed
  • Outer wing (frame) can be printed the same way as the inner wings, this also makes sure the layers for the plug stay strong and don't break
  • The pin is best printed with support next to the pin part, so that the decoration part of the pin stays nice, you won't see the other side anyway when the pin is in place.
  • The core is best printed on one of the rectangular hole sides where the wings will insert. This is because you want to make sure the part that sits on your sweat/shirt/etc. won't snap. Make sure to use support.

I printed this with 0.2 layer height and no rafts, only a skirt. Infill about 15-25%. Material is PLA.
