The Spoon-billed Sandpiper is a migratory bird that can be observed in southern Taiwan. This small bird measures only 14 to 16 cm in length, with a distinctive flat, spoon-shaped bill, earning it the nicknamespoon-billed sandpiper." In recent years, its breeding and habitat areas have been severely destroyed, leaving fewer than 500 adult individuals worldwide. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List has classified it as critically endangered.
This 1:1 scale model faithfully captures the sandpiper's petite size and various foraging postures.
