It has been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Sunday since April 2020 and collected in 13 volumes as of April 2024. Viz Media licenses it in North America, and an anime adaptation aired from September 2023 to March 2024. The story follows Frieren, an elven mage, on a journey to reunite with her former comrade, Himmel. By June 2024, the manga had over 22 million copies in circulation and has won several prestigious awards, including the Manga Taishō, Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize, Shogakukan Manga Award, and Kodansha Manga Award.
