Erich Alfred Hartmann, nicknamed “Chico” by his German comrades and “The Black Devil” by his Soviet adversaries; He was a German fighter pilot during World War II, considered the best flying ace in the history of aerial warfare. He flew 1,404 missions and participated in 825 different combats.
