This colossal sphinx, found in Hatshepsut's mortuary temple at Deir el-Bahri, portrays the female pharaoh with the body of a lion and a human head adorned with a nemes-headcloth and false beard. The sculptor has meticulously captured the powerful muscles of the lion, creating a striking contrast with the pharaoh's handsome and idealized face.
