The flask, intricately crafted from the rare stone material anhydrite, depicts a pair of trussed ducklings positioned back-to-back. Their elongated necks extend away from their bodies, while the joints of their legs form four small knuckles for the vessel to rest upon. The eyes of the birds are adorned with copper. Trussed ducks were a common offering for the deceased. It is plausible that this container, originally intended to hold a cosmetic substance, was created for the tomb rather than for everyday use. Vessels made from this material were previously believed to date back to the Middle Kingdom. However, recent research indicates that they should be attributed to the late Second Intermediate Period.
