The interior of the chest is partitioned into four sections, each featuring a cylindrical hollow topped with a lid intricately carved in the likeness of the king's head.
At each corner of the chest, four goddesses—Isis, Nephthys, Neith, and Serket—are depicted in high relief, extending their arms to safeguard the chest's contents.
Each of the four compartments housed a miniature coffin, which was wrapped in linen and positioned upright within its cylindrical space. The coffins were nearly affixed to the base due to the solidification of the unguents that had been applied during the embalming process.
The goddess Nephthys, in the Canopic Chest of Tutankhamun 3d printable stl model whose name is inscribed on the front of the chest, was tasked with the protection of Tutankhamun's lungs, which were placed inside after undergoing preservation.
The figure, crafted from solid beaten gold, features inlays of colored glass and semi-precious stones. Its design closely resembles that of the second coffin in which Tutankhamun was interred, serving as a nearly miniature version of it.
This canopic jar lid dates back to the New Kingdom, specifically the late 18th Dynasty during the reign of Tutankhamun, approximately 1332-1323 BC. It was discovered in the Tomb of Tutankhamun (KV62) located in the Valley of the Kings, West Thebes, and is currently housed in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, cataloged as JE 60687.
