The Nefertiti Bust, a limestone bust of Nefertiti, the Great Royal Wife of Egyptian pharaoh Akhenaten, is coated with painted stucco. It is believed to have been created in 1345 BCE by Thutmose, as it was found in his workshop in Tell-el Amarna, Egypt. This artwork has been widely replicated in ancient Egypt. Nefertiti has gained immense fame as one of the most renowned women from the ancient world and has become an enduring symbol of feminine beauty.

In 1912, a German archaeological team led by Ludwig Borchardt discovered the bust in Thutmose's workshop. Despite regulations prohibiting the removal of valuable archaeological artifacts from Egypt, Borchardt managed to smuggle the bust out of the country in 1913. To conceal its true nature, he covered it with a layer of clay. Since its discovery, the bust has been housed in various locations in Germany, including a bank cellar, a salt-mine in Merkers-Kieselbach, the Dahlem museum, the Egyptian Museum in Charlottenburg, and finally, the Neues Museum in Berlin, where it was originally exhibited before World War II.
