He is a world-renowned expert in infectious diseases and has played a leading role in the U.S. response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fauci has conducted pioneering research on HIV/AIDS, influenza, and other infectious diseases. He was a member of the U.S. Presidential AIDS Commission and helped to develop the first HIV/AIDS treatment guidelines.
