Dr. Anthony Fauci is an American physician-scientist who has served as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) since 1984. He is a world-renowned expert in infectious diseases and has played a leading role in the U.S. response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fauci has conducted pioneering research on HIV/AIDS, influenza, and other infectious diseases. He was a member of the U.S. Presidential AIDS Commission and helped to develop the first HIV/AIDS treatment guidelines. He has also served as a member of the National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity and the U.S. National Security Council.
