alabaster unguent jar in the form of an ibex 3D Pintable model from the tomb of the pharaoh Tutankhamun
This unique artwork is a vessel that has been crafted in the shape of an ibex, or goat, complete with real horns. However, one of the horns is missing. The eyes of the ibex are adorned with inlays and have black lids. Although the ears of the ibex were pierced, the earrings are no longer present. Additionally, there is a hole on the back of the animal.
The body of the vase is intricately decorated with the name of Tutankhamun in a cartouche, positioned below a solar disk that is flanked by two feathers. The vessel is placed on a slab of calcite. At one point, it contained oils, but unfortunately, these oils were stolen shortly after the tomb was sealed.
This vessel is made of calcite alabaster and originates from the Tomb of Tutankhamun (KV62) in the Valley of the Kings, West Thebes. Its identification number is JE 62122.
