The United States Military Academy, also known as West Point Academy or simply West Point, is the highest federal military educational institution in the United States Army. It is the oldest of the five US military academies.
The academy is located in West Point, New York, in a picturesque location overlooking the Hudson River, 80 km north of New York and covers an area of about 65 km², being one of the largest campuses in the world. Almost the entire central academic campus is a place where many historical places, buildings and monuments are concentrated. Most of the city's buildings are built in the Neo-Gothic style of gray and black granite. Akademgorodok is a popular tourist destination, partly due to the fact that it houses the oldest US Army museum.
