The Littoral Combat Ship was designed for defense of coastal areas against small to medium threats. It was designed to operate at lower cost while being able to take on a wide range of missions. It is fast with cruising speeds as fast as 40 plus miles per hour on the planning hull and the power plant drives water turbines for speed. This vessel is manned by a much smaller crew while automation and simplicity allow the broad range of activities possible.
These ships have automatic 3” guns on the foredeck as well as .50 caliber machine guns mounted on the superstructure on port and starboard sides. These guns may be augmented with two additional gun turrets mounted on the upper superstructure aft in a recess in the decks that allow the automatic gun. The block 1 series of ships was tested and found to be short coming in initial design and a redesign was required to overcome these difficulties. The block 1 ships LCS 1,3,5,7 are testing vessels only and are not assigned to the fleet. They will be scrapped when their testing programs are completed. The new vessels in block 2 of the Freedom class will be taking their place with the US Navy Fleet. They will be succeeded by the Constellation Class Littoral Combat ships now in design development.
This model was not designed for 3d printing, these are to be used as digital files only. If you purchase one for digital printing we do not guarantee that your print will be successful.Exporting of models is limited but good for several software applications. This model is fully textured with all materials UVW mapped and applied. Most materials are planar mapped and major materials include texturing. All textures and materials are included as shown. Objects are logically named for ease of scene management. No cleaning up necessary, just drop your models into the scene and start rendering. No special plug-ins are needed to open scene. In most cases the liveries are based on actual service liveries or paint schemes. Many of the units, airlines or countries who flew the plane are represented here.
