“Halny”, along with a five other ships in the same series, is owned by type R-17 lifeguards. They were all spread along the entire length of the Polish coast and were engaged in saving lives at sea, towing small boats, towing from the shallows, pumping out water and other rescue work at sea. Designed according to the requirements of the Polish Ship Rescue Service, it is built with a specially shaped hull, which keeps the deck dry during almost all major storms, and the ship is characterized by exceptional stability. The ship's life-saving equipment consists of two 10-seater life-rafts in special holders, 6 lifebuoys and 11 life-rafts and nets, attached to the reeling’s. The ships are also equipped with fire-fighting equipment. The ships in the same series are named “Waitr”, “Minstral”, “Monsun”, “Sirokko” and “Zefir”. “Halny” launched on March 21, 1973, began operations on August 1, 1973. Sold around 2010 to a private owner, converted into a tourist ship, still sailing.
