Ship of the line 3D model

This is a 'Ship of the line' class galleon ship that takes much inspiration from the Norwegian Lion ship that Denmark-Norway sailed throughout the early 17th centuary.The Norwegian Lion was 14 meters (45,9 feet) wide at the widest hull and 51,5 meters (168,9 feet) long, not including the bowsprit. It had 70 canons, wheras 26 were 24-pounders, 26 were 18-pounders, and 18 were 8-pounders. The ship would crew 542 men at full operation.The ship also resembles similar ships of the time such as the VOC replica, HMS Leopard or the Swedish 'Gotheborg'.

This 3D model is currently intended for exterior shots, or deck shots in certain situations.

Features:

• Real world scale
• Full seemingly acurate sail rigging. (How exacly these sails were rigged in the 17th century is not well documented)
• Detailing assets such as Lanterns, bells, and bundles of rope.
• PBR Assets
• Two sets of sails (flat, and with thickness. Thickness used for SSS, flat used for simulations)
• Geometry detailed down to about 10 cm (4 inches), though some pieces are more detailed, others maybe bit less.
• No extensive use of heavy textures, uses mostly 2k textures with smaller pieces using 512 or 1024 textures.

• No in-software material trickery (math or texture blend etc), only textures directly connected in material. (makes it less time-consuming to reach similar results in different softwares)

• Made with optimization in mind. The native Maya file makes extensive use of instanced geometry (The blender file too, but at less extent) and referenced assets.

This sale is delivered as a single .zip file using custom file structure. That is why the _3D Model formats_ overview in the sidebar may seem inacurate.

Future plans:

As this product sells further updates may be given to it. Here are some examples:

• Folded / Idle sails option.
• Captain quarter interior stage 1 (This will add some interior to the captain quarters, allowing for the windows at the back of the ship to be see-through, thus show some interior)
• Canon-doors stage 2 (this will add more detail to the canon-doors and frame)
• Forcastle (upper front of ship) interior update. (This will make the ship look more finnished in certain close shots, where the inside of the forcastle is visible through the waist deck entrance)
• 'Upperdeck' (upmost deck that is not weatherdeck) interior. (This will be the first major step towards making the ships complete interior)
• Captain quarter interior stage 2 (This will add finishing touch to the interior of the captain quarters, allowing for interior shots)
• Animation controlls for Canons (Mass-control and individual canon, Maya)
