WOW
Although the first stern-wheelers were invented in Europe, they saw the most service in North America, especially on the Mississippi River. This model is loosely based on the Marieville of 1884 but is not an exact replica. This classic 'western' river steamboat has the unique American design of a shallow-draft flat-bottom craft with wood-burning boilers and high pressure steam engines on the main cargo deck, luxurious passenger accommodations on the deck above and, up on the hurricane deck, the pilot house and crew's 'Texas' cabin.
