A 3D model of a railway track (British English and UIC terminology) or railroad track (American English), also known as a train track or permanent way, is the structure on a railway or railroad consisting of the rails, fasteners, railroad ties (sleepers) and ballast (or slab track), plus the underlying subgrade. It enables trains to move by providing a dependable surface for their wheels to roll upon. Early tracks were constructed with wooden or cast iron/steel rails, and wooden sleepers.
This low poly model takes use of a height map to turn the flat plane into 3D, creating a much more realistic look. All textures are includes, therefore you can take these textures into your software of choice, and apply them to a square place to get the same look. We have included a few different file types. If you need any guidance in applying a height map, please feel free to ask, and we'd be happy to help/point you to a resource/tutorial.
The model is extremely modular, and can be used to create a variety of different train tracks scenarios. Slightly raising the height of the plane results in a nice overlap, meaning you can merge the train tracks seamlessly (please see the 3rd Image).
Great to use for your games, films as CGI, VR, or animations.
It's extremely low poly and holds enough detail to place into a scene for a realistic CGI element.
Technical Specifications: File Formats: MB, MA, OBJ, FBX, STL, VRSCENE
Other than Autodesk Maya, file types (OBJ, FBX, STL, VRSCENE) include only standard materials without advanced shaders or materials.
Whether you're a student, educator, or designer aiming for simplicity in your projects, this Train/Rainway track model serves as an accessible and valuable resource.
